TL;DR - Hunters post launches; Makers create them.

A Hunter is:

  • The person who posts a launch on Product Hunt. They “hunt” or discover new products, bringing them to the attention of the community.

  • Hunters are often fans, community members, or product enthusiasts excited to share something they’ve come across.

  • Note: Hunters don’t have to be involved in a launches creation - some makers choose to hunt their own products to showcase them directly.

Makers are:

  • The person (or team) who created the launch. Makers are typically the developers, founders, or team members behind the launch.

  • When tagged in a launch, makers have special access to comment with a “Maker” badge, letting the community know they’re part of the product's creation and allowing for direct interaction.

If you'd like to update this information on your launch, you can do so from your launch dashboard under "Hunter & makers":

From there, you can add Makers and also get a link to share with your Hunter so they can join.

If you run into any trouble making these changes, our team can assist at hello@producthunt.com or via the chat option online.
