Every launch on Product Hunt is assigned points, which determine its ranking on the homepage. These points are calculated based on genuine engagement, including upvotes and other signals, such as comments.
Previously, we only displayed the upvote count, but this often caused confusion when rankings didn’t align exactly with the number of upvotes. This is because not all upvotes carry the same weight – our system considers various factors to ensure rankings reflect authentic community engagement. Using points instead of raw upvote counts provides a more accurate and fair representation of a launch’s overall traction.
