At Product Hunt, we distinguish between personal and company accounts to help keep contributions authentic and human-led.

A personal account is an account that is tied to an individual with a Twitter, Facebook, or Gmail, LinkedIn, or Apple account.

  • Personal account = @johndoe

A company account is one that uses a company's name or a brand's name and information. If your username is the same as a domain for a website, that's a company account.

  • Company account = @producthunt

Only personal accounts are eligible to contribute

(submit products/forums, comment, or otherwise engage)

on Product Hunt.

This helps ensure that conversations and launches are led by real people, not brand accounts or bots.
